I personally vouch for this local ecobroker . . . This is an excellent alternative-choice for using a realtor . . . they are LICENSED to look for environmentally-friendly homes for people; and, they cost the same!
When we bought our house, this was SO VALUABLE. We were able to avoid some real traps. Just want to pass his card along:
(By the way, he didn't set me up to do this. I ran across his card while switching wallets today and remembered that I had mentioned his service to a number of you environmentally-concerned homeschoolers . . .)
neat! Yes, I've seen that while passing by! Had we built-our-own, we surely would've contacted them . . . and they'd be great to advise anyone wanting to endeavor into do-it-yourself projects because they could help you find non-toxic alternatives . . .
Paul is more like a realtor who would be aware of these same things. Since we have kids, we were definitely concerned about toxicity (lead paint/windows, etc.) and wanted to have someone with us who had "an eye" for those kinds of things.
I love how many New Mexicans try to support environmental-consciousness, greening, and sustainability - I think this is an especially wonderful state to live in for those who feel concerned about those topics.
